Jordan McBurney Wins Rookie Professional on Wimpys Little Cee
Jordan McBurney only planned to school Wimpys Little Cee in the National Reining Horse Association Rookie Professional Ancillary class at the 2011 National Reining Breeders Classic. However, the 7-year-old stallion changed that when he entered the show pen. “I wasn’t planning to show him, but he worked so well and was so good that I did,” she said. The pair marked a 143.5, winning $293.
Jordan and her husband Sean have had Wimpys Little Cee since the stallion’s 4-year-old year, but sold the stallion to the Cardan Partnership a year ago. “The owner lives in England, but left him in training with us. We’ve bred him some this year and we’ll breed him a little next year. We’ll just see how he does. Until then we’ll just keep riding and showing him,” she said.
Sean will show Wimpys Little Cee, a former NRBC Intermediate Open finalist, in the NRBC Open Classic Challenge on Friday night.
he McBurneys might have had one of the longest trips to Katy – their trip from Arlington, Washington, took over 50 hours! “We definitely had a long drive down here,” she said.
Blake Plemmons and Wimpys Little Olena won the Limited Open class that was run concurrently, and claimed the Rookie Professional Reserve Championship to earn $230. Wimpys Little Olena is owned by Theresa Drawdy of St. Cloud, Florida.
Steve Archer Wins NRBC Ancillary Intermediate Open on One Night Roost
Steve Archer and One Night Roost claimed the National Reining Horse Association Ancillary Intermediate Open at the 2011 National Reining Breeders Classic. The accomplished trainer piloted the 7-year-old stallion to a score of 147.5, collecting $1,050 for owner Carolyn Tellepsen.
“He was good today. He did all the hard stuff well. He turned really nicely and stopped very hard,” noted Archer of Richmond, Texas. “He’s very pleasant to show.”
Tellepsen, who has long supported the NRBC with her husband Howard Tellepsen, purchased One Night Roost a little over a year ago. “Howard and Carolyn have been my customers for almost 25 years,” he said. “They are great people and always have fun horses for me to show.”
One Night Roost has had a successful career. He was the One Hot Reining Horse Futurity Champion, the September Slide Reining Futurity Champion, the 4R Performance Horse Futurity Champion and the Reserve Limited Open NRHA Futurity Champion. “I’m bringing him back slowly the way I like him. We’re going to continue showing this year and maybe move into the Classic Challenge next year,” said Archer, referring to the NRBC’s new program for horses seven years and older.

In the end, it was Blake Plemmons who won the Championship on Wimpys Little Olena. He has only shown the gelding twice. “We’ve actually only had him about four weeks, so I was very happy with how he worked,” noted Plemmons, who rides with Gabe Hutchins in Aubrey, Texas. “He’s a pretty good horse.”
Plemmons and Wimpys Little Olena, owned by Theresa Drawdy of St. Cloud, Florida, received a check for $327. “He was a little tired in the run-off but he was still good.
